Berwick and Borders Allotments was a new project for 2009, designed to allow anyone to grow their own food. From families to individuals to the elderly, anyone can enjoy and benefit from having their own growing plot. 2009 has seen a steady growth with our freshly grown vegetables, and some even boasting places in many local shows and competitions.

We all know that food prices are getting higher and this is an excellent way of saving money but this isn't the only benefit from growing your own.

The delight of nurturing a plant from a tiny seed throughout its growth stages until its finally ready to eat at its freshest is extremely rewarding.

Because you're picking your fruit and veg at its freshest there's no need for nasty preservatives etc, this has to be one of the biggest benefits from growing your own.

Taste the difference too! 

One of our biggest aims is to encourage children to enjoy and learn about growing food (as it seems so many have little understanding) also create a place where families can spend time together away from the distractions of modern life for a little while. A vegetable garden can be fun, interesting, educating, rewarding and also good exercise for children and adults alike.

Retired and elderly people who struggle to fill in long days can spend hours on the allotment coming away with a great feeling purpose and fulfillment.

Situated just outside of town you can detach yourself from the fast lane and dwindle away a few minutes or a few hours at your leisure take in some fresh air, nice scenery, relax and unwind (you time).
